Production Design

I’ve come to really love production design because I find it very gratifying and fun to produce artwork at a fast-pace using all the skills and programs that I took so long to learn.

For the past 20 plus years, I’ve been designing brochures, logos, ads, email campaigns, corporate literature, websites, and retouching photos as a visual designer. As a production designer, I’ve created tradeshow displays, reformatted social media ads, created extensive PowerPoint presentations, and produced full ad campaigns with 30 plus different size deliverables for companies like Hunter Douglas, Vail Resorts Corporation, and Burns Marketing.  My extensive background in the printing industry, where I shepherded other designers’ work through the printing process to final printed pieces, affords me a view of printing nuances that I take into consideration in my designs. Rounding out my skills, I’m a product photographer, as highlighted on many of my portfolio inclusions.

I’ve always liked to amuse myself by making small challenges for myself in my daily life. For example, “Can I shower, brush my teeth and get dressed in under 10 minutes?” or “How fast can I mow the lawn and fold the clothes?” A little strange…sure, but it turns out, also a good natural cooky trait for a production designer. “How fast can I plant this tree and do my taxes?” becomes instead, “How fast can I crank out this set of ads and can I actually beat the deadline instead of just meeting it?” It’s very important to note that with all of these challenges, if proper hygiene has not been achieved, the lawn isn’t mowed well, the laundry is folded poorly, or the ads aren’t built to perfection, it doesn’t count and the challenge hasn’t really been met.

I ALWAYS strive to meet the challenge.
